PR, Content and Communications Strategy for organisations that want to make an impact
Keynote speaker on heritage communications, digital engagement and measurable impact
What I Do
I help heritage and cultural organisations turn brilliant stories into measurable public value — stronger engagement, clearer outcomes, and communications that stand up to scrutiny from funders, stakeholders and the public.
I’m a Sheffield-based heritage communications strategist and PR consultant, an associate lecturer in PR, journalism and strategic communications, and a best-selling history author (30+ books). For the past decade I’ve led communications on major National Lottery Heritage Fund supported programmes — combining public storytelling with digital, media and evaluation thinking.
Latest Projects
Recent work includes Sheffield Blitz 85th, King Mojo, George Stephenson (Chesterfield), mining heritage (Clay Cross), Dronfield church medieval window restoration, Sheffield Food heritage, Dungworth & Bradfield WW1/WW2 projects, and Hillsborough history.

Press and profile: getting heritage projects seen nationally while staying credible locally
Building momentum: how to turn launches, exhibitions and anniversaries into long-term legacy
Stakeholders, sensitivity and scrutiny: communicating difficult history with care and confidence.
