Neil Anderson Media is celebrating another major heritage funding success after helping Synth City secure £146,500 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for an ambitious new project celebrating Sheffield’s legendary Limit nightclub.
The two-and-a-half-year project will preserve the story of one of Britain’s most influential alternative music venues through a major programme of heritage activities including a touring exhibition, new publication, workshops, talks, volunteer opportunities and the creation of a permanent digital archive.
Neil Anderson has worked closely with Synth City throughout the development of the project, helping shape the successful funding application and supporting the partnership behind the bid.
The project has particular significance for Neil, who wrote the bestselling history of The Limit 15 years ago and has spent many years researching the venue’s remarkable contribution to Sheffield’s musical heritage.
Developed alongside Synth City Chair Keith Radley, who worked at The Limit during its early years, the project brings together first-hand experience, extensive historical research and strong partnerships with organisations including Sheffield Archives and Sheffield Hallam University.
Neil Anderson, Director of Neil Anderson Media, said:
“This is a project I’ve been passionate about for many years. The Limit played a hugely important role in Sheffield’s cultural story, and it’s fantastic to see its history recognised with this level of investment.
“Successful heritage projects are built on great partnerships, compelling storytelling and a clear vision for creating lasting public benefit. It’s been a privilege to support Synth City in developing this successful application, and I look forward to seeing the project evolve over the coming years.”
The announcement represents another significant National Lottery Heritage Fund success for Neil Anderson Media, continuing the company’s growing portfolio of heritage projects that help organisations secure investment, engage communities and preserve important stories for future generations.
If your organisation is developing a heritage project and would like support with project development, funding applications, communications or demonstrating impact, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
